How we make money: This page has no affiliate, referral, or paid links. We earn nothing if you open, keep, or cancel any card mentioned here. If we ever add a paid link, it will be labeled "Paid link" right next to it, and this box will change. Card terms change often, so check the issuer's site before you book or spend.

Independent site: PointFam is an independent site for families who use cards and points for travel. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the U.S. Department of Defense or any branch of the U.S. military. None of these cards is an "official" military card. Views are the author's own.

Not advice: Nothing on this page is legal, tax, or financial advice. Credit terms, enrollment rules, and eligibility windows are set by the issuer and can change without notice. Check your own Chase account, Chase Travel booking screens, Apple Account settings, and the current benefit language before you rely on a number below.

Last verified: October 6, 2026. Amounts and rules below follow Chase Sapphire Reserve product terms, Chase Edit / travel-credit / Apple / 8X education pages, and the Rewards Category FAQ we checked that day, plus verified household notes.

Short version: This dig owns how the levers work. The Edit statement credit needs prepaid Pay Now stays of 2 nights or more, up to $250 per booking and $500 per calendar year. The 2026 select hotels credit is another $250 through 12/31/26 on named brands. Chase Edit education says those two can stack with leftover $300 anniversary travel credit on one qualifying stay (full three only if the total exceeds $800). Apple on personal CSR is complimentary Apple TV and Apple Music (activate by 6/22/27), or an Apple One $8/benefit discount path - not an Apple Store purchase credit. Chase Travel can stretch Ultimate Rewards with 8X earn and hotel/flight Points Boost; credited dollars earn zero, and cars do not get Points Boost. Gift cards, sightseeing, and merchants inside hotels/airports often fail the travel-credit code.

We use the Chase Sapphire Reserve $300 anniversary travel credit. It auto-applies on travel-category spend. This page does not claim a lived The Edit prepaid stay, select-hotels credit burn, Apple TV / Apple Music / Apple One activation, or Chase Travel hotel or car points stretch. Those stay open: Until then, everything below on Edit, Apple, and portal stretch is researched mechanics: Chase pages say / holders can.

Parent card checklist: Chase Sapphire Reserve super guide. Series index: Use Every Benefit. Put the hotel stack on a short trip: CSR weekend trip for free stack (trip itinerary; do not duplicate here). Flight-leg companion only: Delta companion certificate family hack. Q4 timing: credits expiring Dec 31 and the Dec 31 tracker. Wallet context: six-card wallet routine and Platinum vs Reserve.

The Edit credit path (researched)

Amounts and windows are from CSR product terms. How stacking and cash+points work is from Chase Edit education.

Eligibility mechanics

  • Up to $250 statement credit per qualifying prepaid booking; up to $500 per calendar year (January 1 through December 31), not halves.
  • Starting 1/1/2026 language on CSR terms.
  • Qualifying: prepaid "Pay Now" stays of 2 nights or more through The Edit / Chase Travel.
  • Credit must be available at purchase time (purchase date controls, not stay date).
  • Auto apply; no separate Edit activation for the statement credit.
  • Portion that qualifies does not earn Ultimate Rewards points.
  • Cash + points: Chase Edit education says eligible when the cash portion exceeds the $250 credit; points-only bookings are not eligible for the statement credit.
  • Pay Later / pay at property: not eligible for the statement credit (education also notes Pay Later blocks points at checkout).
  • Posting: Chase Edit education says typically 3-5 days after settle; allow longer (days to a few weeks). Call the card number if missing.
  • Cancel/modify: Chase Edit education - cancel and rebook inside the property window; Edit credit returns for a new reservation; points for a canceled booking are deducted.

On-property Edit benefits (separate from the statement credit)

Chase Edit education examples (subject to change; vary by property; some subject to availability): Hotel + Resort and Boutique often list daily breakfast for two, about $100 property credit, welcome amenity, and Wi-Fi (Hotel + Resort also lists upgrades / early-late when available). All-In examples lean toward about $200 property credit for on-property experiences plus upgrade / early-late when available. Property credit and breakfast are on-property, not cash for government taxes or companion fares. Missing benefits: Chase education lists [email protected].

Loyalty Plus (optional)

Chase Edit education: when a listing shows "Eligible for Loyalty Plus", you can earn Ultimate Rewards and select hotel loyalty on the same Edit booking; add the loyalty number at booking / Trip Profile and confirm at the front desk. Earn rates vary; check the listing.

Select Chase Travel hotels credit (through 12/31/26)

  • Up to $250 statement credits for qualifying prepaid Chase Travel hotel bookings January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026.
  • Brands named on the CSR page: IHG Hotels & Resorts, Montage, Pendry, Omni, Virgin Hotels, Minor Hotels, Pan Pacific.
  • Same Pay Now + 2-night minimum as Edit.
  • Credited portion earns 0 points.
  • Hard sunset: purchase window through 12/31/26. Credit must be available at the qualifying purchase time. After that date, treat any 2027 replacement as unconfirmed until Chase publishes new primary language. Track the window on credits expiring Dec 31 and the Dec 31 tracker.
  • Stack with Edit only when the property is both in The Edit and a select brand (Chase education).

Three-way hotel credit stack (credits only)

Trip narrative lives in the CSR weekend trip for free stack. This section is the credit math only.

Chase Edit education (published August 10, 2026; informational disclaimer present; still Chase-published) says eligible cards have multiple Chase Travel credits that can be stacked:

  1. Edit $250 applies first.
  2. Then select hotels $250 if remaining balance qualifies (listed brands; through 12/31/26).
  3. Then unused $300 anniversary travel credit can cover remaining eligible travel balance (including Edit stays) until exhausted.
  4. Education note: all three fully applied on one stay only if reservation total exceeds $800.

CSR product-page legal overlays define each credit separately (amounts, windows, Pay Now 2+, 0 points on credited portion). They do not contradict stacking and do not spell the three-way order. Use product terms for the hard numbers; use Chase Edit education for how the three stack. Credited portions earn 0 Ultimate Rewards; remaining cash on Chase Travel earns 8X.

Cannot:

  • Two Edit $250 credits on the same single booking ($250 per prepaid booking; $500/year across bookings).
  • Back-to-back 2-night split to burn both Edit credits on one hotel visit as a verified Chase-approved tactic. That is community talk based on reports, not an official issuer page, only. Chase primary does not clearly allow or forbid it. Do not publish it as official.
  • Treat education EXAMPLE hotel dollars (for example $1,820 / $800 savings stories) as live quotes for a named property.

Anniversary vs calendar trap: Edit/select reset January 1; travel credit resets on open-date anniversary. Burning all three on one January stay can empty calendar hotel credits early and empty anniversary travel credit mid-cycle.

Apple TV and Apple Music path (not Apple Store)

Clarify naming: Some series shorthand says "Apple Store / The Edit." On personal CSR, the Apple benefit is the streaming path plus Edit. Product terms describe complimentary Apple TV and Apple Music, not an Apple retail Store credit. There is no Apple Store / hardware / product purchase statement credit on the personal CSR product or benefits pages we checked.

How activation works (researched)

  • Complimentary Apple TV and Apple Music for the primary cardmember.
  • One-time activation on chase.com or the Chase Mobile app required by June 22, 2027.
  • At least 12 months of complimentary service from activation date (each benefit).
  • Chase marketing values differ by page ($288 product/education vs $324 benefits marketing). Treat those as Chase marketing language, not a household receipt.
  • Linking Apple ID: on Apple devices, the benefit may auto-link to the Apple ID on the device; alternate Apple ID via web / Apple support per terms.
  • If an active individual Apple TV or Apple Music paid sub exists: the complimentary Chase sub suspends the paid sub; if Chase complimentary ends or cancels, the paid sub resumes at then-current price.
  • Apple One path (product terms): If you have active paid Apple One purchased directly through Apple, and you activate the Chase Apple TV and/or Apple Music benefit with the same Apple Account connected to Apple One billing, Apple applies an $8.00 discount on Apple One per activated benefit starting the next billing period (terms: discount subject to change/cancel at Apple's discretion). Only one complimentary subscription or Apple One discount per Apple Account per benefit. Activating both TV and Music against Apple One can mean two $8 discounts if both terms apply. Skip family-plan free-upgrade stories and blog round numbers ($7.50 / $15). Stick to the $8.00 product-terms figure.
  • Closing or product-changing the card ends eligibility.
  • Cancel Chase complimentary anytime in the Chase benefits UI.

Chase Apple education: activate on chase.com / Chase Mobile; link Apple ID; existing paid individual subs suspend under complimentary.

This path stays researched-only until we confirm household activation.

Chase Travel points stretch (hotels + cars)

Earn side

  • 8X Ultimate Rewards on Chase Travel purchases, including The Edit, hotels, flights, car rentals, cruises, and activities/tours.
  • 4X on flights and hotels booked direct (outside Chase Travel).
  • Credited portions of travel credit / Edit / select hotels earn 0 points; remaining cash on Chase Travel still earns 8X on the unreimbursed portion.
  • Optional caveat: product terms say 8X only if booked directly through Chase Travel; Frosch-family / designer bookings may not get 8X.

Redeem side - Points Boost

  • Points Boost: points worth up to 2x on top-booked hotels including The Edit, and flights with select airlines, through Chase Travel.
  • Look for the Points Boost tag / rocket icon in search (product terms).
  • Not marketed for Chase Travel car rentals. There is no car Points Boost on personal CSR.
  • Floor without Boost: Ultimate Rewards travel redemption $0.01 per point. Boost is promotional uplift on tagged inventory.

Cars specifically

What exists:

  • Travel credit merchant category includes car rentals (can auto-reimburse until the $300 anniversary cap is exhausted). Chase travel-credit education even uses a car-rental reimbursement example.
  • 8X when the car is booked via Chase Travel.
  • Primary Auto Rental Coverage up to $75,000 when the entire rental is charged to the card and CDW/LDW is declined (New York residents: secondary inside the U.S.). This is insurance, not a statement credit.
  • Chase Travel education ("7 Ways...", Mar 31, 2026): Emerald Club Executive (National) and Avis Preferred Plus access for Sapphire Reserve. Chase education claim; confirm enrollment in Chase benefits UI at booking. Mobile walkthroughs are based on reports, not an official issuer page, only. Do not copy Business CSR % discounts onto personal.

What does not exist on personal CSR product page:

  • No dedicated monthly/annual rental-car statement credit.

Points stretch framing (researched EXAMPLE only): Prefer Chase Travel for 8X on unreimbursed cash. Decide whether anniversary travel credit burns on hotel vs car vs flights first (credited dollars earn 0). Decline counter CDW only when primary coverage conditions are met. Do not expect Points Boost on the rental.

What does NOT stack with the $300 travel credit (and related traps)

Readers confuse "flexible travel credit" with "everything travel-shaped stacks." Use this table.

Thing Stacks with $300 travel credit? Notes
The Edit statement credit Yes (separate credit; education says travel credit also applies to Edit stays until exhausted) Different caps / calendar vs anniversary
Select hotels $250 (2026) Yes when remaining balance qualifies Through 12/31/26; Pay Now 2+
Edit on-property breakfast / property credit N/A On-property; not cash for taxes or companion fares
Apple TV / Music No Complimentary sub / Apple One path; not travel-category credit
Points-only Edit booking Does not get Edit statement credit Cash must exceed $250
Gift cards / sightseeing / RV-boat / merchants within hotels-airports / in-flight goods Do not qualify as travel category See coding section; product terms
Dining / Lyft / StubHub / Peloton / DashPass Separate benefits Not travel-credit stack
Delta companion certificate Different issuer/product Soft-link companion dig-in; separate booking

Points interaction: Any portion that qualifies for the $300 travel credit will not earn points (product terms). Same for Edit / select credited portions.

Statement-credit coding traps (sourced)

From the CSR product-page travel-credit merchant list and the Rewards Category FAQ. Chase: "We do not determine whether merchants correctly identify and bill transactions as being of a certain type."

Travel category includes (product terms examples): airlines, hotels, motels, timeshares, car rental agencies, cruise lines, travel agencies, discount travel sites, campgrounds, passenger trains, buses, taxis, limousines, ferries, toll bridges/highways, parking lots/garages.

Travel category excludes (product terms examples): real estate agents; educational merchants arranging travel; in-flight goods and services; onboard cruise goods and services; sightseeing activities; excursions; tourist attractions; RV and boat rentals; merchants within hotels and airports; public campgrounds; merchants that rent vehicles for hauling; gift card merchants; merchants that sell points or miles.

Other coding gotchas (label researched; those offers' terms, not travel-credit rules): Dining Exclusive Tables exclude merchandise, gift cards, and third-party delivery processors; StubHub UK redirect / StubHub International does not qualify; Peloton app-store purchases do not qualify; DashPass/Lyft terms exclude some digital-wallet paths; travel-credit purchases that post after the anniversary window can allocate to the next year's $300. Community "always codes / never codes" lists stay based on reports, not an official issuer page, unless Chase FAQ confirms.

What "free" means here

Credits can erase large prepaid hotel slices and some travel-category spend. They do not erase government taxes/fees (Edit prepaid tax-line treatment is not confirmed on the issuer's site, so call to confirm; education examples use totals "before taxes and fees"), resort fees outside the credited path, companion taxes/fees if you also use a Delta companion certificate (see the companion dig-in), or car taxes/airport fees/fuel beyond leftover travel credit. Annual-fee / MLA math is out of scope here.

Never headline EXAMPLE math as a "$0 hotel." These credits can make stays cheap. They almost never make them zero after taxes and fees.

Worked EXAMPLE structure (placeholders only)

Label clearly: EXAMPLE. Round numbers are structure only, not live quotes.

  1. Edit + select hotel: EXAMPLE prepaid Pay Now 2-night total $H. Apply up to $250 Edit, then up to $250 select if brand qualifies, then up to $300 travel credit if anniversary balance remains. Max illustrated three-credit offset: $800 only if $H > $800. Out-of-pocket ≈ $H - credits (+ uncovered tax/fee lines; tax treatment not confirmed on the issuer's site, so call to confirm).
  2. Apple: activate by 6/22/27 for >=12 months, or Apple One $8/benefit path. No Apple Store EXAMPLE.
  3. Car via Chase Travel: EXAMPLE $C - burn leftover travel credit (0 pts on credited portion) or earn 8X on unreimbursed cash. No Points Boost on cars.
  4. Full trip narrative: weekend stack. This page stays on how the credits and points levers work.

Gotchas checklist

  1. Calling Edit a "free hotel" when taxes/fees remain.
  2. 1-night stay or Pay Later (fails Edit/select).
  3. Points-only Edit (fails statement credit).
  4. Two Edit credits on one reservation (impossible).
  5. Back-to-back Edit as verified Chase playbook (based on reports, not an official issuer page, only).
  6. Missing select-hotels 12/31/26 purchase window.
  7. Confusing anniversary travel credit with calendar Edit/select.
  8. Emptying $300 travel credit on taxis before a planned Edit stay.
  9. Inventing an Apple Store credit or a dedicated rental-car statement credit.
  10. Expecting Points Boost on cars.
  11. Gift cards / sightseeing / in-hotel merchants expecting travel credit.
  12. Treating Chase education EXAMPLE dollars as a live hotel quote.
  13. Rewriting the weekend stack or companion encyclopedia (link weekend #20 / companion #18).

Where this sits in the wallet / series

This dig owns how the levers work under the CSR super guide. Sibling weekend stack #20 owns the itinerary; sibling companion dig-in #18 owns companion certificate mechanics. Soft-link both; do not merge. Also: Use Every Benefit, credits expiring Dec 31, Dec 31 tracker, six-card wallet routine, Platinum vs Reserve.

FAQ

Is The Edit a free hotel? No. Credits can erase a large prepaid slice. Taxes, fees, resort fees, and non-credited spend can remain. Tax-line coverage of the Pay Now total is not confirmed on Chase primary.

Can I get two Edit $250 credits on one booking? No. Cap is $250 per prepaid booking, up to $500 per calendar year across bookings.

Is back-to-back Edit Chase-approved? Not as a verified official tactic. Based on reports, not an official issuer page, only.

Apple Store credit? Dedicated car credit? Points Boost on cars? No / no / no. Apple = TV + Music (or Apple One $8 path). Cars = travel credit + 8X + primary CDW. Points Boost = hotels/flights only.

Select hotels end date? Purchase through 12/31/26. See credits expiring Dec 31.
