How we make money: This page has no affiliate, referral, or paid links. We earn nothing if you open, keep, or cancel any card mentioned here. If we ever add a paid link, it will be labeled "Paid link" right next to it, and this box will change. Card terms change often, so check the issuer's site before you book or spend.

Independent site: PointFam is an independent site for families who use cards and points for travel. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the U.S. Department of Defense or any branch of the U.S. military. None of these cards is an "official" military card. Views are the author's own.

Not advice: Nothing on this page is legal, tax, or financial advice. Credit terms, enrollment rules, and eligibility windows are set by the issuer and can change without notice. Check your own Amex account and the current benefit terms before you rely on a number below.

Last verified: October 6, 2026. Amounts and rules below follow American Express Platinum product and benefit terms we checked that day, plus verified household notes.

Short version: Enroll first. Wait for enrollment to finish. Confirm the venue is indicated as eligible for the Resy Credit on Resy or Tock the day you pay. Pay on an official path so the charge is a direct restaurant, Resy, Resy Pay, or eligible Tock purchase - not a food delivery service or other third-party checkout. Allow up to eight weeks for the statement credit.

This is a researched how-to for the Amex Platinum Resy dining credit. Our household holds Platinum, and most years we touch the airline fee credit, the hotel credit, and Uber Cash on purpose. Resy stays researched-only here: holders-can and terms-say, not a household we-use claim.

The numbers (amount, calendar, per Card Account)

On U.S. Consumer Platinum, the Resy benefit is up to $100 in statement credits each quarter, up to $400 per calendar year, per Card Account. Basic Card and Additional Card spend on that enrolled Account share one pool. You do not get a second $400 because someone else carries plastic on the same Account.

Enrollment is required. American Express says enrollment may take up to 24 hours to process.

Official Platinum Resy terms say "each quarter" and "per calendar year." They do not name January through March and the other month windows. Amex's own calendar-quarter definition on Hilton Aspire maps the usual four windows: January through March, April through June, July through September, and October through December. Treat those month names as supported by that Aspire definition, not as months printed inside the Platinum Resy paragraph itself.

Unused quarterly value: plan as if unused amount does not help the next quarter. Platinum Resy terms use period caps; they do not spell out a separate "no rollover" sentence we can quote.

Enroll before you spend

Resy is not like the hotel credit. Hotel credit needs no enrollment. Resy does.

Who can enroll: the Basic Card Member or an Authorized Account Manager, through the Benefits section on americanexpress.com or the Amex app, or by calling the number on the Card.

After you enroll, wait. Terms say enrollment may take up to 24 hours to process. Dining the same evening you clicked enroll is a bad plan.

Pre-enrollment spend: treat it as unsafe. Airline fee credit terms explicitly say fees charged before airline selection are not eligible. Resy terms require enrollment and the 24-hour processing note, but they do not reuse that exact "prior to enrollment" sentence. Do not invent one. Wait until enrollment is done, then spend.

What spend is eligible (official paths)

Per Amex's $400 Resy Credit terms, eligible Resy purchases include:

  1. Purchases made directly at qualifying U.S. restaurants and other food and beverage establishments (for example wineries or cafes) that offer reservations on Resy.com or the Resy app and accept American Express.
  2. Purchases made directly on Resy.com or in the Resy app.
  3. Purchases made via Resy Pay.
  4. Effective September 15, 2026: purchases made directly on www.exploretock.com or the Tock app (for example prepaid reservations or deposits) for U.S. establishments, still subject to the eligibility indicator at purchase.

You do not need a Resy reservation or a Resy profile to trigger the statement credit if you pay a qualifying venue directly with the enrolled Card (Amex Credit Intel and strong secondary guides agree on that point). A Resy profile still matters for separate benefits such as Global Dining Access or Platinum Nights. Do not mix those with the statement credit.

Allow up to eight weeks after an eligible purchase for the statement credit to post. If it is missing after eight weeks, call American Express. Merchant processing date can shift which benefit period counts.

The restaurant caveat (what holders miss)

Being "on Resy" is not enough.

Qualifying venues "will be indicated as eligible on their booking page on Resy.com, the Resy app, www.exploretock.com or the Tock app." Qualifying restaurants and other food and beverage establishments must be indicated as eligible at the time of purchase for you to earn statement credits. Eligibility is subject to change at any time.

Takeaway: Open the venue on Resy (or Tock when that path applies) the day you pay, not only the day you booked. If the booking page no longer indicates Resy Credit eligibility, do not count on the credit for that charge.

Amex's language is "indicated as eligible." Secondary write-ups quote different on-page badge wording; we stick to Amex's phrasing and do not quote an exact on-page badge string.

Resy Help FAQ (article dated September 19, 2025) also lists common non-qualifiers that match the spirit of Amex terms: purchases at a restaurant inside another business (hotel, department store); non-dining items (Resy-branded merchandise, Resy OS software, Resy-branded Amex Gift Cards, gift cards purchased at restaurants); third-party payment systems such as mobile card readers; and purchases completed through food delivery apps or other third-party services. Prefer Amex terms for badge and Tock dates; that FAQ predates the August 2026 eligibility-indicator emphasis.

DoorDash and delivery: what primary sources say

Official Amex Resy terms say gift card purchases, delivery orders, catering orders, or purchases made on-site at events when the restaurant uses a third party to process or submit the transaction also may not receive the statement credit. Example language includes purchases using a third party such as third-party payment platforms, third-party websites or apps, third-party loyalty programs, or food delivery services.

DoorDash app orders are not an official Resy-credit method. No Amex Platinum Resy terms section, Amex Credit Intel Resy page, or Resy Credit FAQ we fetched teaches DoorDash-via-Resy as an eligible path. Do not order inside a delivery app and expect the Platinum Resy credit.

U.S. Consumer Platinum's delivery-adjacent benefits in current terms are Uber Cash and Uber One, not DoorDash or DashPass. Ordering a Resy-listed restaurant inside DoorDash is DoorDash spend. That may matter for other cards' DoorDash promos. It is not an Amex Resy eligible purchase under the exclusions above.

Safer move: confirm the eligibility indicator at purchase, then pay so the statement shows the restaurant (dine-in, or pickup paid at the restaurant's own POS or another restaurant-coded path).

Community reports add a coding trap that matches what many holders miss: some Resy restaurants use DoorDash Commerce Platform / order.online for online pickup that looks like the restaurant's own site. The charge can post as DoorDash.com, and Amex support has told holders the charge needs to post under the restaurant name. Footer text like "Powered by DoorDash Commerce Platform" is the tell (based on community reports, not Amex T&C language). Primary terms already exclude food delivery services and third-party websites/apps, so treat any checkout that is not clearly the restaurant, Resy, Resy Pay, or eligible Tock as risky.

Toast (order.toasttab.com) sometimes codes as the restaurant in community reports based on reports, not an official issuer page; your mileage may vary. Do not treat Toast as a guarantee.

Enrollment steps (public)

  1. Log into americanexpress.com or the Amex app.
  2. Enroll in the Resy Credit benefit from the Benefits section, or call the number on the Card. Only the Basic Card Member or an Authorized Account Manager can enroll.
  3. Wait up to 24 hours for enrollment to process.
  4. Optional for other Resy benefits: add the Platinum Card to a Resy profile (Global Dining Access / Platinum Nights). Not required for the statement credit itself per marketing and secondary consensus.
  5. Before paying: open the venue on Resy (or Tock when applicable) and confirm it is indicated as eligible for the Resy Credit at that time.
  6. Pay with the enrolled Card Account (Basic or Additional plastic on that Account).
  7. Allow up to eight weeks for the statement credit. Call Amex if it is still missing after eight weeks.

Amex's public Platinum product page (fetched October 6, 2026) summarizes it as up to $400 Resy Credit, statement credits up to $100 quarterly on eligible purchases at qualifying U.S. Resy restaurants, enrollment required.

Exact in-account Benefits tile click paths can differ by app version; public pages confirm enrollment is required. Treat blog screenshots of the Benefits UI as based on reports, not an official issuer page, if you need a click-by-click map.

Common gotchas (sourced only)

Gotcha What to do
Spend before enrollment finishes (up to 24 hours) Enroll, wait, then dine. Treat pre-enrollment as unsafe.
Venue on Resy but not indicated as eligible at purchase Check the booking page the day you pay. Being listed is not enough.
Delivery app order (DoorDash, Uber Eats, and similar) Not an official Resy path. Terms may deny food delivery services and delivery orders.
Online checkout that looks like the restaurant but runs through DoorDash Commerce Platform or another third-party / delivery platform Risky under third-party / food-delivery exclusions; community coding misses reported (based on reports, not an official issuer page). Prefer restaurant-named charges.
Gift cards Resy-branded Amex Gift Cards are not eligible; gift card purchases may not receive the credit. Do not plan on gift cards.
Restaurant inside a hotel, department store, or food hall Terms and Resy FAQ call these out as may-not-qualify.
Third-party or mobile wireless card readers May not qualify when a third party processes the charge.
Additional Card spend Counts toward the same Card Account caps, not a second $400.
Credit posts late or in the "wrong" quarter Allow up to eight weeks; merchant processing date can shift the period.
Mixing this with Delta SkyMiles Reserve Resy Different card, different cadence. See next section.

Not the same as Delta SkyMiles Reserve Resy

Amex Platinum Resy Delta SkyMiles Reserve Resy
Amount / cadence Up to $100/quarter, up to $400/calendar year Up to $20/month, up to $240/calendar year
Enrollment Required (may take up to 24 hours) Required (may take up to 24 hours)
Household framing on PointFam Researched-only (not unlocked as we-use) Researched-only (not unlocked as we-use)

Do not mix $100 per quarter with $20 per month. If you hold both cards, enroll and track each benefit on its own terms. For how Platinum and Reserve fit the wider wallet, see Platinum vs Reserve.

Q4 and Dec 31 reminder

If you are reading this in the October through December window (under the Aspire calendar-quarter map), unused Q4 Resy value sits inside the calendar-year pattern used elsewhere on PointFam. Link your plan to credits expiring Dec 31 and the Dec 31 tracker. Do not invent a unique Dec 31 Resy sunset beyond the calendar-year cap language.

FAQ

Do I need a Resy reservation?
No, not for the statement credit itself, if you pay a qualifying venue directly with the enrolled Card and the venue is indicated as eligible at purchase. A reservation can still be useful for getting a table; it is not what triggers the credit.

Does tip or tax count?
Not confirmed on the issuer's site on the Platinum Resy terms section we checked. Do not assume either way until American Express spells it out in official benefit terms.

How long does the credit take to post?
Allow up to eight weeks. Call Amex if it is missing after that.

Can Additional Card spend earn it?
Yes, toward the same Card Account caps (up to $100 each quarter / $400 per calendar year across Cards on the Account).

Is DoorDash an eligible Resy path on Platinum?
No official Amex or Resy source we checked teaches DoorDash as an eligible Resy path. Platinum's delivery-adjacent benefits are Uber Cash and Uber One, not DoorDash or DashPass.

What to do next

  1. Enroll in Resy on the Platinum Account if you have not already, then wait up to 24 hours.
  2. Before the next dining charge, confirm the venue is indicated as eligible on Resy or Tock.
  3. Pay on an official path (direct restaurant, Resy.com / Resy app, Resy Pay, or eligible Tock after September 15, 2026).
  4. Skip delivery apps and unclear third-party checkouts for this credit.
  5. Track Q4 against the Dec 31 credits guide if the quarter is still open.
